Tony Hawk has announced details of a special one-day music festival to celebrate the release of Pro Skater 3+4.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Fest will take place at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on May 8 and be livestreamed around the world via the official Pro Skater Twitch channel. UK fans will need to tune in at 2am BST on May 9.

The gig will feature live performances from Danny Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Adolescents, and Urethane, all of whom are featured on the game’s official soundtrack. The event will be hosted by sports commentator Selema Masekela and skateboarder Nora Vasconcellos, while fellow Pro Skaters Chloe Covell, Aurélien Giraud, Leo Baker, Kareem Campbell, Geoff Rowley, Tony Hawk and more will also put in an appearance.

“THPS Fest is like a dream come true—it’s surreal to see Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 (and the THPS franchise) celebrated on this scale,” said Hawk in a statement. “This event includes everything that’s shaped the legacy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater: skateboarding, music, and the authentic culture behind both. I am honoured to partner with AEG and Activision to bring this vision to life—it represents the generations of fans who’ve connected with the game and the lifestyle it represents.”

The festival comes ahead of a newly announced collaboration between events company AEG Presents and Activison, which will see iconic music venue El Rey digitally recreated in the Los Angeles level of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 while other venues will feature on in-game billboards. An announcement trailer also reveals new gameplay footage ahead of the game’s launch on July 11.

“Hosting this event at the iconic El Rey Theatre, an in-game landmark, makes it even more special,” said Activision’s Jason Finn. “With immersive gameplay, live musical performances and exclusive first-looks, there truly is something for everyone. Fans around the world can join us to experience everything we’ve been working on, and this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share even more exciting moments with our community.”

Earlier this year, Activision confirmed the first wave of artists featured on the soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. CKY’s Jackass anthem ‘96 Quite Bitter Beings’, Motorhead’s ‘Ace Of Spades’ and ‘Amoeba’ from Adolescents are all set to return from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 while Gang Starr’s Mass Appeal has been brought back from Pro Skater 4, alongside new additions from artists such as Turnstile, Run The Jewels and Kendrick Lamar. Different tracks from Pro Skater icons Iron Maiden and De La Soul will also be included.

Defending his decision to change up the soundtrack, Hawk wrote: “It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 OST. I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride. More to come… both old and new.”

Activision previously said the soundtrack is designed to “capture the spirit of modern skate culture”.

In other news, following news of industry lay-offs, game cancellations and “laughable” price hokes, Millennial gamers have been getting nostalgic and telling Gen Z what they wouldn’t “understand” about the good ol’ days.
