The White Lotus’ Walton Goggins danced with his mum during his Saturday Night Live opening monologue last night – check it out below.
The actor, who played Rick Hatchett in the recent third season of the HBO show, began his debut hosting gig of SNL on Saturday (May 10) with a series of self-deprecating jokes about some of the headlines that have been written about his newfound “sex symbol” status.
With that, he transitioned into talking about his upbringing. “I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia by my mother with the help of her three sisters and my grandmother. And my mama is the most important person in my life.”
Explaining that his mother would take him to honky tonks as a child, where she taught him to do the clog and two-step, he revealed she was sitting in the front row and duly invited her on stage. “Would you dance with me?” he asked.
The two began with some slow-paced two-step moves, before Goggins asked the house band to “kick this up a notch” and they launched into a spritely clog dance. “Happy Mother’s Day!” Goggins exclaimed.

Goggins’s stint hosting the show comes just weeks after his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood, who played his girlfriend Chelsea on the show, described an SNL sketch that took aim at her teeth as “mean and unfunny”.
Wood went on to reveal that she received a rare apology from the show and a bouquet of flowers from Sarah Sherman, who portrayed her in the sketch.
Goggins, however, appeared to have a different reaction to the sketch, replying to SNL’s post of the video by writing: “Hahahahahahaha amazzzingggg”. He then shared it to his Instagram Story, describing it as “smashing”.
This disparity played into existing internet rumours that Goggins and Wood had fallen out. While the duo had appeared to be very close while filming, with both being pictured on each other’s social accounts, fans noticed that the two no longer appear to follow each other on Instagram.
Goggins later shut down questions about the apparent rift. “I’m not gonna have that conversation,” Goggins said, with a publicist then urging the writer to move on to the “next question”.
When the topic was raised a second time, things grew more tense, with Goggins reiterating: “There is no conversation to be had about that. Sharing politics on social media – it’s in a vacuum.” When a final attempt was made, Goggins remarked: “What the fuck! Come on, buddy. Wow.”
Elsewhere on this week’s SNL, musical guests Arcade Fire played two tracks from their newly released album ‘Pink Elephant’ – the title track and ‘Year Of The Snake’.
