Haircut 100 have reunited with Nick Heyward to announce their first album in 42 years. Check out their new single, ‘Dynamite’, below.
It comes after the band shared a new single last year, ‘The Unloving Plum’, which went on to became Radio 2’s Record of the Week and proved a hit among long-time fans of the ‘80s band.
Known for their classic ’80s songs, ‘Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)’, ‘Love Plus One’, ‘Fantastic Day’ and ‘Nobody’s Fool’, the band reunited for a run of shows in 2023 and also covered Harry Styles’ hit ‘As It Was’ at live at BBC’s iconic Maida Vale studios in the same year.
Now, their reunion “steps up a gear” according to a statement, with a new album ‘Boxing The Compass’ arriving on March 20 2026, and a new tour which will be their first full headline tour since 2023.
‘Boxing The Compass’, which you can pre-order here, will be the second album from the classic line-up of the band since their 1982 album ‘Pelican West’ went Platinum. The line-up will feature Nick Heyward on vocals and guitar, Graham Jones on guitar and Les Nemes on bass as well as Blair Cunningham on drums.

‘Boxing The Compass’ tracklist is:
‘Vanishing Point’
‘The Unloving Plum’
‘That’s A Start’
‘Dynamite’
‘Come Back To Me’
‘Someone’
‘A Wonderful Life’
‘Soul Bird’
‘Raincloud’
‘Sunshine’
According to a press release, the members “had reconvened to discuss issues around the band, but that business meeting felt more like a reunion of old friends. Things soon snowballed from an unforgettable comeback gig at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.”
A statement added: “Subsequent writing and recording sessions with Sean Read (Dexys) at Famous Times studio in East London showed that they still shared that special something. Their flair for a classic, melody rich pop song was firmly intact alongside with a host of fresh influences that they had never had the chance to explore together. And despite the passing of four decades, their boyish charm is still luminous – surely because each member is grateful for having a second chance with their old friends.”
Speaking about the reunion, Nick Heyward said: “‘Boxing The Compass’ is the traditional way of finding out where you are on land or sea using the compass rose. We’re arriving back at the port we left 43 years ago with a log of songs from our personal travels.
“Wherever I’ve been in the world, I’ve always been Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 and we’re all ready to set sail again for more adventures on the high seas.”
Speaking about the meaning of the new track, Heyward added: “‘Dynamite’ is about the day and the night and meeting via satellite. Whether it’s your soul mate, long lost family members, future friends, or your people. It’s about communication and how explosive it can be. It really is dynamite.”
