Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo has mocked the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 delay during a red carpet interview for the fifth and final season of the Netflix hit.
Stranger Things launched July 2016 and later this month, the first part of the fifth and final season will be released.
Speaking at a recent press event for the show, Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo was asked if he’d heard that Grand Theft Auto 6 had been delayed from May 2026 to November. “Of course it did. Guys, we got a whole series of [Stranger Things] before we got GTA 6. We got seasons one through five before GTA 6. I was 11 years old when GTA 5 came out [and] I’m now an adult. I’m in my 20s,” he said.
“But I’d rather it be good. Take that time. Do that delay. We’ll be here when it’s here. We’ll be ready,” he added.

Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed for the second time last week. The game had originally been due to launch “late 2025” but was pushed back to May 26, 2026 so Rockstar Games could “polish” the game. In a short statement shared on Thursday (November 6), developers wrote: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” It will now launch November 19, 2026.

Following the announcement, some fans have speculated that Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t actually be released until 2027. Strauss Zelnick, boss of GTA publishers Take Two, has said he’s “highly confident” in the November release date, but he was equally confident that the game wouldn’t be delayed beyond May 2026.
Meanwhile, Netflix has shared the first five-minutes of Stranger Things season five, which flashes back to the first season and shows what Vecna was doing in The Upside Down with Will Byers. Stranger Things 5 will be released in three parts on Netflix. The first chapter will arrive on November 27 at 1am GMT, while the second part will drop at 1am on December 26. Its finale will then air at 1am on New Year’s Day in the UK.
In other news, Marvel’s ambitious Captain America and Black Panther crossover Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra has been indefinitely delayed.
