Elden Ring: Nightreign is set to get a new paid expansion next month with The Forsaken Hollows.
Elden Ring spin-off Nightreign challenges players to survive for two nights in the cursed land of Limveld, with a fiendishly difficult boss to slay at the end of each day. The game launched at the end of May 2025 and developers FromSoftware have added a number of new ways to play in the months that have followed.
Tougher, meaner and more dangerous versions of the existing Nightlord bosses were introduced in June and a new ultra hard mode was made available in September. Now a new expansion is set to launch.
The Forsaken Hollows DLC is set to launch December 4 and will feature two new playable characters. There’s the Scholar, “an academic who walks the Lands Between boasting impressive arcane levels, who gains incredible advantages through battlefield observation,’ and the Undertaker. “An abbess who was mandated to slay the Nightlord. Boasting impressive strength and faith, she sends enemies to the afterlife with ruthless efficiency.”
Two new bosses will also be introduced as part of The Forsaken Hollows including The Dreglord. “From the souls and blood of the fallen, a wounded spirit follows. The Dreglord awaits,” reads a blog post from publishers Bandai Namco. A brand new ‘Shifting Earth’ event will also be available as part of the DLC, but there’s no new map.
The trailer also gives viewers a glimpse of the second boss, which some fans believe is Artorias from the original Dark Souls DLC Artorias Of The Abyss.
Earlier this year, it was revealed Elden Ring “superfan” Alex Garland put together an “epic” 200-page pitch for the movie adaptation before flying to Japan to get the blessing of FromSoftware. Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, who will serve as producer on the film after helping with the lore of the original game, has called Garland a “first rate” director and shared a video explaining why the Elden Ring movie adaptation “won’t suck”.
In other news, Daft Punk have shared a new official video for ‘Contact’, inspired by their recent Fortnite collab.
