Katy Perry’s manager celebrates closure of multiple Wendy’s outlets after food chain mocked singer’s trip to space

Katy Perry‘s manager appears to have revived her beef with fast-food chain Wendy’s.

Back in April, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s space tourism company Blue Origin briefly sent the ‘E.T.’ singer to space alongside an all-female crew that included TV host Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, scientist Amanda Nguyen, entrepreneur Aisha Bowe and author Lauren Sánchez, who is also Bezos’ fiancée.

The trip was roundly criticised, with actress Olivia Munn branding Perry “gluttonous”Emily Ratajkowski saying she was “disgusted” by the flight and Lily Allen calling the mission “out of touch”, saying there was “no fucking reason” for it.

Wendy’s also weighed in on social media, jokingly asking if they could “send Katy Perry back to space”, and writing: “When we said women in stem this isn’t what we meant.” They later clarified their stance on the singer, giving an official statement to People that seemed to stop short of a full apology. “We always bring a little spice to our socials,” they said at the time.

“But Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent.”

On Friday (November 7), reports emerged that Wendy’s is set to close hundreds of restaurants across the US as part of a corporate “turnaround plan”, with roughly 6,000 venues said to be affected, per CNN.

The pop star’s manager, Bradford Cobb, went on to repost a headline about the closures to his Instagram Story, alongside a photo of the brand’s iconic red sign, which many fans took as a returned barb following their comments about Perry.

It follows Perry releasing new single, ‘Bandaids’, which marked her first since the critically panned 2024 album ‘143‘. The track arrived with little to no prior teases, comes in the middle of the singer’s world tour.

2024 and 2025 have been relatively tough years for the ‘Teenage Dreams’ singer, who garnered criticism for working with disgraced producer Dr Luke for comeback record ‘143’ and its lead single ‘Woman’s World’.

The album itself wasn’t well received by critics, with NME scoring it two out of five stars: “Pop fans have a fondness for resurrecting “flop” albums that were given short shrift when they first came out: Mariah Carey’s ill-fated soundtrack album ‘Glitter’ and Christina Aguilera’s sonic hodgepodge ‘Bionic’ have both become cult classics of sorts. But even this fate seems unlikely for ‘143’, a serviceable but slightly dull collection on which Perry struggles to relocate her old sense of fun.”
